The Fishing Mini-Game in Final Fantasy XII
This has got to be one of the most boring Final Fantasy mini-games in the entire history of the series. That’s why I feel it’s important to give you a bit of help with it. You want to get it done as quick as possible, right? That’s what I thought. So, here goes:
So, these first events can be done in a sort of jumbled order, but first, go get the barheim key, then go to the bank village in the desert and talk to father of the kid that takes you across the river. He really wants to go fishing in order to suck up some of his extra time. So, go to the Port at Balfonheim and and head to the airship terminal. Don’t go in, though. On the road, there is a man fishing near some crates. Talk to him twice and choose the first option. Now, move away from him, but don’t leave the area. Stay on this road and do not cross into any other areas that will cause a new loading screen. Now go back to where the old man was and he will be gone. Grab his fishing rod (Muramata) and give it to the man at the south bank village. Now you can begin fishing. (…yay…)
Now, you need to complete some special tasks in the areas in order to unlock more fishin’ holes. Here’s what you have to do to unlock each one:
Master Den: Fish up Saboten Crest in the Secret Reaches.
Middle Reaches: Get five "Perfect Fishing" in the Lower Reaches.
Secret Reaches: Fish up Saboten Bond in the Upper Reaches with Matamune.
Taikou Chest (treasure): Get nine "Perfect Fishing" in the Master Den.
Upper Reaches: Get five "Perfect Fishing" in the Middle Reaches.
Well, have fun with this one. Good luck.
