Making the Ruby Weapon Battle Easy in Final Fantasy VII
So, I’m sure you’ve been defeated by this thing at least once before. I was never even able to beat him the first time I played through this masterpiece of a game. Thankfully, there were enough side-quests to keep me satisfied until I played it again. Now I finally know how to beat Ruby Weapon. First, You need to do the W-Item Materia trick. If you are unfamiliar with this, you can find a detailed explanation of it in the tips section.
After you know how to do this, buy a couple of Hero Drinks. You know, they’re those things you never used in the game and thought were useless. Well, they pretty much are, but not here. Go find a battle somewhere and let your characters get killed except for cloud. When you have two characters killed, Ruby Weapon can’t throw anyone else out of the battle. That’s good because it’s incredibly cheap. So, since you’re going to be doing this and it’s incredibly dangerous, I would recommend having the final act materia and putting a phoenix down or phoenix materia on it. That way, if you DO die, you’ll come back up. But, if you don’t feel like adding that extra safety net, you can go your own way on it and ride it dangerously. But once you begin the battle with Ruby Weapon, you should just be cloud. Begin by doing the W-Item trick on your hero drinks so you can bring them all the way up to ninety nine. You could do this in your last battle, as well, but either way, just get them up to the maximum limit. Now, past this point, the strategy splits into different paths, but I will outline my two favorite:
The first is to equip the W-Item materia and do the hero drink trick, then equip the Mime materia, the knights of the round, and hp absorb. You will use knights of the round on ruby weapon, gain 9999 exp. And mime it until he is dead.
The next is to use the hero drink trick, but have the w-item materia equipped and the counterattack materia equipped. That way, you’ll strengthen yourself with the Hero Drink and then when he attacks you, you’ll attack back with some real power. You can also equip mime, use your limit breaks, etc. in this, but if you are trying to do it with minimal technique, the hero drink way is the way to go. Good luck! Give that sucka a good beating for me!
